How do I make a bacon weave? It’s really pretty simple. Start with an even number of slices of bacon. I generally go with between 10 and 16 slices. In this example, I will be using 12. Lay out half the bacon slices parallel to each other on a cutting board:

Now, pull back the ends of about half to accommodate a slice of bacon perpendicular to the first set of slices:

Now lay down a slice of bacon across the original set of slices:

Then unfold the folded slices:

Now fold back the other half of the first set of bacon the other way like so:

And lay down another perpendicular slice of bacon and unfold the folded slices back over the top:

Now pull back the original half set of bacon:

Lay down another slice across the original set and unfold the bacon you pulled back:

Rinse and repeat until a lattice work of bacon is created:

Next up, wrap up whatever meat you want to surround in a glorious jacket of woven bacon:

Voila, meat wrapped in a bacon weave. That’s how to make a bacon weave. Another great use for the bacon weave is to lay it over the top of the breasts of a turkey for thanksgiving. The bacon will continually baste the turkey as it cooks and renders out all that glorious fat.

One last tip. When the bacon begins to cook on the smoker, the exposed ends of bacon will curl up, just like in the frying pan. Stab the ends with toothpicks to keep them in place and even then, some of them will pull back. No worries though, it’s still glorious smoked bacon when it’s all said and done:
